agree with dave for recent post, possible need to add exclusions for antivirus or totally disable it when trying to update client
Or possible the player don't have admin right to modified for specific files/folder.
but for obsolete post, i think it already solve...
just do what object_780 to download via direct download using 3rd party download manager

your computer may be have vredist issue, so try install it or reinstal your vredist(visual c++)
